  1. You should be certain to know what type of correctional facility to search:
    There are three types of facilities stated as:-Federal, State and City/County. For example, an inmate in county jail will not be found in a federal criminal inmate search. If your loved one has been incarcerated in a federal prison, you should only search federal databases found here: www.bop.gov. If your loved one has been incarcerated at a city/county facility, try searching particularly about facility’s database.

You can hunt for any inmate in any state prison and find all the relevant inmate information. All you have to do is select the state, and then click on the state prison the inmate is located in. Then you’ll be directed to the state’s inmate finder where you can look up those incarcerated, on probation or on parole.
